Testing the DBB Black
I am wrong? I have done ball bearing swap only on other turbos in the past. I know whether its worth the difference from personal experience. Plus the differences I talk about usually is not shown on dyno graph. The turbo I did ten years ago made 29psi at 3900rpm with plain bearing. and 29psi at 3900 rpm with BB center. I was shocked, I was told the turbo would spool 200 rpm faster. It did not. There was no power change. But when shifting at 6500rpm (what I call sport shift) the turbo completely fell out of boost with journal bearings. took nearly three tenths of a second to regain 29psi boost. the ball bearing center would fall to ten psi boost at shift and hit 29psi in less than a tenth of a second. the response is well worth it to me. for people like you that say the upgrade is a waste it just shows you have lack of experience.

This was lift shifting as fast as i could, boost response should have been better if i was nil lift to shift'ing

I don't know what you are trying to say. I didnt say it would make more power, NOTHING changed in the compressor or the car and I said as much. I was trying to show transient response difference and that was it. It seems in the later posts that we are on the same page and it was interpretation of what you said that I didnt understand. It got posted because I was asked to post results. People are going to ask and as far as testing I had a perfect car to work with since it was the only thing I changed.

i still have yet to see the point of us jb black owners spending 2500 or 1299 to upgrade to BB plus money to pay for swap and oil change. yea its more reiable but again most of us have or will never have issues with our jb blacks to spend needless money so far really is to just say to people i have a bb black.
Hey, sorry for not posting in here. I've been busy as a beeatch and forgot Aaron said he made a thread. I got a total of 6 hours sleep between the 2 days that I was down there, and didn't get to spend as much time with the ER boyz as I would have liked (was working the whole time I was there).
Big thanks to Mikey @ SpecOps for the hookup on the Black! I've known Mikey for years, but this was the first time working with him through SpecOps. From what I've gathered, they run a great shop and I couldn't have been more happy.
Of course big thanks to the boyz @ ER, especially Aaron. Nothing but the best from them as always. The Scotch was the least I could do.
Next in line is working with Eric for the dump (let me know which weekend works for you, buddy!) and the switch to ethanol, though it sounds like the station close to me is behind schedule due to the city dragging their feet.
I couldn't be happier with the switch - the response is amazing! Also, having the peace of mind regarding longevity, considering I already had issues with a previous Black, means a lot. If I can sell my most recent Black for a good price, plus working some deals on the side as I usually do, and the cost to make the switch was not bad, and definitely worth it.
