I only plan on running an fp black but it makes sense now that the 3586 is more than capable of high *** traps and purpose oriented. dd a 3586 and never dragging it really doesnt make much sense, but I guess if you want 9s it should be the go to turbo or larger for faster times. The 3076 though, seems to fit the bill for the street

Would the hta3582 land more in the middle of the hta76 and hta86?
It appears as though the hta3082 isn't worth moving onto from the hta76. More lost power band than anything else.
Perhaps the hta3582 would be reasonably more responsive than the hta86 but also show valuable gains over the hta76 where the hta3082 doesn't appear to.

3076 is what he meant. Simple really. If you want comical street response, small turbo is great. like an fp green 2.3. fp black will have a little more lag but still streetable. Once you go 3582 and up, you've gone too big for street unless you plan on dragging. Can you drive 3586 on street? of course, but as david said, it's not really that wise if you have no other purpose but street driving. A smaller turbo is more suited.
Bottom line: choose the appropriate size for the appropriate application. Faster than 9s = 3794, but poor street manners.

HTA3082 is not a misprint. There is also an HTA3582. The HTA3582 I use to run on my car. We ran 9.40's at 150 on it if I remember right. The HTA3582 is in between the HTA3082 and HTA3586. The HTA3582 spools a few hundred RPM sooner than the HTA3586 and makes about 40 whp less top end.
The HTA3586 is what I have run since 2008 on my car. On the RPM stroker is if excellent on the street, as you can see the lag isn't horrible and as I've already said, it's good enough to autocross the car. Going LARGER THAN the HTA3586, I think SUCKS on a street car, SUCKS.

This test and thread is a great addition to the forum, thanks!
You had the HTA3586 on your car when it was a built 2.0, or no? Can't recall.. wondering if so what are your impressions of street driving on that combo

I currently have a hta86 on a stock bottom end Evo 8 and spool really isn't as bad as people think. If you have ever driven a turbod b16 civic with a 57 trim its about the same. But it can be annoying at times having to downshift to pass somebody on the highway. But once it kicks in it pulls hard.

do you have any thoughts on the HTA3794? I don't know if you made a single comment about it since it's release over a year ago. Obviously it too big for your liking but as a drag turbo do you use it or do you think there's something better?

Yes, I had the HTA86 on my car when it was a 2.0. At a normal compression ratio it is too un-responsive for me. At a high compression ratio it is OK. On our 2.3RPM stroker it is very good. With the 2 liter downshifting to accelerate is very normal, even on a slight incline. With the 2.3 I don't need to down shift, like 55-60 mph I can pull out to pass and the engine/turbo is responsive enough I can get the job done.
I have not run the HTA3794, it's not for me. I'd guess if you aren't running 8's then it's not for you either.

What is the difference between an HTA 3076, and the GTX 3076R? I am guessing that the HTA 3076 is just a regular 3076R configured with one of FP's HTA compressor wheels. But, then what is the GTX 3076R?
