The car is amazing even with a bunk motor. I got the motor basically for free knowing it needed to be rebuilt sooner or later. I am kind of excited to see if it picks up power with a fresh build. It is still fast but the idle is compromised. It is weird how a motor can basically be blown up and still make big power under boost!
Sorry to hear about the motor man...but excited to see/read about the rebuild

I love the 4G63 and 4G64. It just seems to take a beating and come back for more. I have 134K on the stock motor and try to re-seat my rings every day.

<---Saving up for the rebuild

Power without a usable power band would suck, but if you have a good power band to make the car actually fast then its worth it!
I have to agree with this brother here, my friend.

Well I am not sure if my awesome 65psi compression in cylinder #2 is hurting my power or my turbo is just unable to do any more but I gain nothing from the JMFab O2 dump from a stock O2 housing. I even had cooler temps on my side and nothing. Sucks but once I refresh the motor we will see if the power comes back before I install the 6262 setup. I am bummed for sure.

Tom LET ME BORROW YOUR SPARE FP Black turbo! Hahahahaha! I will lend you my 6262!

LOL! thats like running on 3 cylinders. my cars on jackstands .. been there for over a month waiting on shep. fedex brings the trans here in a few days tho.

the o2 dump would normally give you a nice gain and probably better response also from the turbo. you noticed nothing at all?

also was that 65psi on your comp tester i used before? because if so thats like 30psi on the one i have here at home

i am surprised the engine doesnt sound like a subaru with that compression in one cyl.

Call me when you get up. I am not very busy today I can swingler over and do a test with your tester. Then we can go for a rip. Still over 400 with that compression.

I verified my compression tester with regulated shop air and it is about 7psi higher so I was probably right around 58-60psi in the low cylinder. I also did a VDR today and the power is down a little bit but boost is also down to only 27psi. Anyone have lower boost with an 02 dump?

7psi isn't bad. it might of been that close its been a while. usually when you just throw a non 3d contoured o2 dump on the car it will creep boost alittle.. i never seen one lower boost. so if its contoured its possible it stabilized your boost curve better then what you had on there before.. so you might just need to turn the boost up alittle. i think once you raise the boost the same as before you'll see gains.

your afr should go alittle leaner also. regardless though, we both know you cant lose power by reducing back pressure on a turbocharged car.. so it def didn't lose power. it is 90F out though again!

I'm sure once you get the compression issue resolved and turn the boost back up to where it should be there will be gains somewhere at least due to the O2 dump. I was a little bummed when you called me and told me the results but then it all made sense because of the obvious issues. What's funny is even with the compression issue this car is still a crap ton of fun!
