2003 EVO8 2.4L EVO9 Turbo

Here is a VDR from today. Car is a blast to drive! Still fine tuning but it seems pretty good so far.

Mods:
2.4L
GSC S2
BC Springs/Retainers
PTE 1200cc injectors
Perrin FMIC
ETS Hard pipes
JDM MR Metal BOV
EVO9 20G 6 Turbo
Megan 3in DP
Resonated Test Pipe
HKS 3in Exhaust
Modded Walbro 255HP
ARP Headstuds
SpoolinUp COP
Tephra V7

Still stock manifold turbine housing and o2 housing. Would love to see how an o2 dump would help this out.

I actually have no idea. It is a mystery motor I dont even really know if it is a 2.4L but it is a 64 block and it spools so fast I dont think it is a 2.1 so I am assuming 2.4. It is a weird long story on how I got the motor. I will know more next week I am going to look in the cylinders with a borescope and see what pistons are in it. Sounds terrible to know nothing about your own motor! hahaha

Hot damn. I just drove my 2.4L/IX Turbo for the first time today and can honestly say it's one of the most fun combos out there. Great numbers. It will make me happy if you say it's pump gas!

Sorry E85 but only ~30psi. I have an omni 4 bar but didnt log it. I dont feel like my formula in evoscan is not right either and my boost gauge is useless so I dont have exact boost #'s. My wideband doesnt log either so my tuning is just by watching the AFR and looking at logs. I am so backwards!

Nice results.
It would be great if you can do a pull starting from 2000rpm to show response/boost threshold.

Cheers, Mike

I'd recommend getting a better DV like a turbosmart or synapse unit. Then maybe a ported/coated stock manifold or a tubular like ToxicFab or MAP. As for the O2 dump, JMF or MAP is the way to go. I bet with those three mods, you'd pick up quite a bit of power. That built block can handle whatever that turbo can dish out. So you might as well make it as efficient as possible.

Great results for the lack of mods though. I'm interested in seeing the progress.

Edit: I'd also recommend an upgraded wastegate actuator. That new TurboSmart unit looks baller and performs great from what I see in the MAP turbocharger results thread. There's been a few people that claim it holds boost better than the FP units.

Agree with this guy.

OP, ironically, I have your setup plus a JMF 02 Dump, Curt Brown Ported Manifolds, and a Tial BOV and will be tuning this upcoming week, so stay tuned to see about what you'll be able to pick up with a few mods.

It is a ton of fun. I will be upgrading the turbo to a 6262 soon. I already have the turbo and manifold I just need an 02 housing and Fathouse is going to be fabbing one up for me. I am also installing a double pumper and FIC 2150CC injectors and really cranking it up. I have a ton of parts to sell to find that as well. 2 complete EVO 9 turbo setups and a set of S2's and a set of PTE 1000CC injectors. Anyone need any of those parts let me know!

Apparently I have an old school Buschur 20G not a stock 9 turbo. Pics can be seen in this thread:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...you-think.html

So I have a stock turbo and an upgraded mystery turbo that may be a 20G. No wonder this car hauls ***.

lol on the mystery motor. my car also had a mystery 2.4. previous owner bought the car not knowing it had a built 2.4. english racing took a look at it and was like, "hey, this is a 2.4l." pulled the pan, borescoped, and discovered forged internals. dug a little deeper and discovered fully ported head. bonus!
