Bolt on Evo 8 RS e85/93 tuned by Yusuf @flyinevo2ning!
I recently had the pleasure of having my car tuned by Yusuf @ Flyinevo2ning. I was in desperate need of a tune---was getting 15mpg for a couple months..brutal. After hearing good things about him, I decided to schedule a tune and couldn't be happier with my decision!
Modifications:
Spoolin up COP
HKS 264 I/E cams (I know, I know..)
PTE 1000cc injectors
No name 3" turboback with resonated test pipe
ETS 3" FMIC
Muse short route intercooler piping
Vibrant MAF adapter with amsoil air filter
Evo IX bov
Walbro 255
Grimmspeed MBC
NGK BR8es spark plugs gapped @ .025
Stock headstuds, stock block+internals, stock 9.8 turbo/wastegate, stock o2 housing, STOCK ORIGINAL CLUTCH @ 96,500 miles!!
I asked Yusuf to keep the tune knock free and as conservative as possible. I have a feeling my stock clutch won't last much longer and don't have a lot of extra cash at the moment. Also, I was very nervous about running any more than 26psi on the stock headstuds so we kept it at that. The car is driven every day and is currently my only car. He did everything I asked and far exceeded my expectations.
The car before the tune was a complete dog, got terrible gas mileage and wasn't fun at all to drive.
If you are in the Chicagoland area and need a tune, contact Yusuf @ flyinevo2ning--you won't regret it!!
Onto the results..
Both 93 and E85 tunes were done on 26psi. Zero knock in any gear at any rpm. Pulls hard and drives much smoother than it did before the tune. It drives like an entirely different car, I can't wait to drive the car every morning lol. Tephra V7 is awesome, map switching is really convenient when I cannot find an E85 pump. I was able to get 21mpg cruising at 85mph down to school with E85, and I got 25mpg (mostly city) on 93 too, which is insane considering I was barely getting 15mpg on 93 before.
I will start by saying that Yusuf did not do these Virtual dyno pulls. I logged the car with GripMaster (member on this forum) and we are by no means pros at using VD. I read about the 25.33 tire size being wrong after we did the logs. So if someone could correct them for me that would be great. (I don't have evoscan or virtual dyno on my computer so I cannot change the graphs). My tires are brand new 235/45r17. The weight is 3550 with driver and occupant added. (I am 175lbs and passenger was 200lbs) I invite anyone to comment, but please don't turn this into a pissing contest. Everyone seems to have a huge dick when they are behind a computer screen..
Baseline before tune:

93 octane tune:

E85 tune Corrected-4th Gear 97% Humidity:

Overlap:

E85 uncorrected-97% humidity

Humidity on night of E85 pulls:

After the tune I did a few pulls with my buddy Zack (GripMaster). He has a fully built 2.3 stroker Evo 7, ported 9 turbo, kelford 272s and other bolt ons--also tuned by Yusuf. He dyno'd 375whp on a Mustang dyno for reference. We raced with his car @26psi on 93 pump gas and my car on E85 26psi and I pulled slightly on him from 30-100mph in 97% humidity.
I will be installing Kelford 272's/headstuds/o2 housing/getting re-tuned in the near future. Stay tuned for results!

Clutch seems to be holding just fine, no signs of slipping yet
Thanks! I will keep that in mind for future reference.
The difference from base tune to e85 was ridiculous. Can't wait to install some kelfords or gsc s2's!

Thanks! Yeah these cars respond so well to minor modifications there's no reason not to.
Also, I just realized that the weight of the '04 RS is 200lbs heavier than what virtual dyno claims. Virtual dyno uses the weight of the 05-06 evos which is 3175lbs. So the car should actually have a little more power than is being shown.
