Couple of questions about the new XX94.

Is it a 3794? LOL
Have they mentioned if it will be sold in T4 TS configuration. I would assume so but just asking.
Have they rated it for max HP output?
When will it be available?

Devin said the center section and turbine wheel are different. Wondering if the new turbo is even Garrett based. That pretty much rules out it being a 3794.

I have been entertaining the theory that the 3794HTA was a 'T04Z' with the T67 compressor upgraded to the 94HTA wheel, and asked the question in the FP 'ask us a question' thread.... as I couldn't help think that the 3788R would be a more suitable base. I would be very amused if the new turbo ends up looking much like a GT3788R with an upgraded compressor wheel, if that were the case I am not sure a name change would make sense - and it would be more like a replacement of the outgoing model. If it spools better and makes more then the existing 3794s only advantage is being a bit more compact :-)

The HTA88 was a t04z with an 88mm HTA compressor wheel. A different beast entirely.

The 3794 if I am not mistaken IS BASED off the gt37r Garrett cartridge/turbine wheel already.

Sweet - I have next no idea tbh, I've never had the good fortune to end up with a 3794 in my hot little hands to see what they are. I was just pondering that from the fact that they have the same compressor and turbine housing combinations as the T04Z - which aren't the same as the GT3788R (who runs bigger ones).

Looking at the first post it does look more like GT3788R turbine measurements, so FP must be doing something quite interesting with this one

FWIW, a lot of these turbochargers have been using cut down GT wheels for a long time. These are the relationships I have gotten from various reputable sources.
The revised T04Z is based on a cut down GT37 turbine wheel.
The "T3 stage 5" (akaT350) wheel is a cut down GT37.
The GTQ is a cut down GT42 turbine (cut down shaft too).

Garrett has also revised a couple of their wheels. The P-trim originally came out in the 70s (ish) but there are at least 2 versions of it out there with considerably different blade designs. Same with the "T3 stage 3" wheel.

I've HEARD Garrett was working on some new turbines specifically for the aftermarket and it seems like FP has a pretty good relationship with Garrett...
Could be some exciting news...

I'd be surprised if they did give FP new turbines before they released any of their own turbos with it, but I guess stranger things have happened! Regardless, exciting times

I spoke with the Honeywell guys at SEMA last year and they were very coy about it when I asked them if they were planning on new aero for the gtx turbines.

FP has a long history with Garrett. I wouldn't be suprised at all if FP had access to test some Beta components from Garrett.

FP's EVO is damn near a hot gas flow test bench on wheels. Giving Garrett some real world feedback in applications that they are targeting would probably be welcom data.

That makes sense. Well it will be very interesting to see what effects the changes to this turbo have on how it performs, and Devin's thoughts.

If it turns out to spool better than the 6766 and outflow the outgoing 3794 then that is pretty serious business

What an awesome comparison! It is really interesting how the FP made similar numbers from 52-55psi. Great job, subscribed for more on this new turbo.
