Kristen's 482whp 35R Stock cam IX

Kristen is a NW original with a very clean TB Evo IX. The car has seen some battle damage but in the course of time it led to some upgrades that prepared the car for where it is now.

Mods prior-

ETS 3" FMIC with piping
ER SD and intake
Omnipower 4 bar MAP sensor
Cobb DP
ETS 3" exhaust
Stock Cams

This made for a best of 360whp-

TJ, our fab guy and resident DaVinci, bought a 35R kit for the car that needed some revamp but had made 420whp on the former owner's car. We arent quite sure what kit it is but it looks like an old RNR kit. One thing that needed attention was the O2 housing, it was shaped like this and had a recirc'd WG -

<

A normal O2 housing and external dump were engineered and then the whole thing was installed.

Next mods-

RNR 3582 (standard) with 0.63 5 bolt Ford turbine housing
Custom ER O2 housing
FIC 850s

On straight 92 and the stock cams it tapped out at 439whp on the edge of knock-

Since we are always testing new concepts (and old ones we haven't dyno'd) TJ wanted to mix in some E100 and make the car run on E25. As you can see I intentionally left the straight 92 octane tune rich. With zero changes to the tune other than mixing some E25 we bumped it up-

The 1.5 gallons we added to the 6 gallons in the tank leaned it out 0.5 points and killed any knock we were seeing. A pull or 2 later the fuel had mixed better and this ended up at an 11.78 (from 10.97) which is still obviously safe. We decided to exploit the octane and went higher with the boost, never encountering knock-

All in all, the little bit of ethanol we mixed in allowed us to turn up the boost, make another 40whp+ without knock, and still run slightly better than pump timing. Alcohol is one helluva a drug

I Remember when E85 first came out doing something similar on my DD EVO8 I would fill up with 8 Gallons of 93 And 2 Gallons of E85, With my normal 93 tune.

Just like you stated It Provided a noticeable increase in power while killing any knock (even 1-2s) that were present.

All that power with 850cc injectors and I am guessing one walbro 255 pump? What are the injector duty cycles?

Great post Aaron! This gives me some ideas... From your tests I think I could also make an E25 mixture and just lower injector size by about 7% to keep the same AFR´s as with 93 oct, then maybe just lean it a little via fuel map.

We have E97 sort of available here in Peru, so before going straight to a blend of E85, and probably running out of fuel pump/system, I could give E25 - E30 a try. This seems to be a better alternative to meth injection.
