Sorry to hear about your turbo man...

But great numbers so far!! I'm actually re-tuning my setup that's pretty close to yours tonight with Tom except this time I'm running hybrid boost. I'm excited as hell and I'll be posting my #'s tonight/tomorrow so keep and eye out for them!

Anyways, I've done a remote tune before and I can tell u this it wasn't anywhere as easy as tscs remote tune. All u need to do is get all your cables hooked for datalogging to a Non p.o.s. laptop and ur set. Cause Tom literally takes over ur laptop remotely. It's actually really cool. It would have took a LOT longer if he had me do it all and send him the logs. This way he can make all the changes he needs done to ur computer to make the Tuning smoother. This is definitely and I stress definitely the way to go if ur remote Tuning. I did it the old school way two years ago with tamer and there was a point I got out of my car to just calm down. Cause the back and forth sux. But u get the hang of it. It's the setup that sux. And with TOM u skip 90% of that. U actually write back and forth on the laptops notepad, instead of texting which is easier. IMO.
Oh BTW tho unless ur Tuning next to a Wi-Fi hotspot I suggest having a phone that broadcasts Wi-Fi (perferably 4g) or a 4g Wi-Fi transmitter like I did. Cuz u need to have a bandwidth feed so he can access ur laptop.
Also if ur at all concerned about him controlling ur laptop DON'T BE. First off he needs a password to get on it everytime that u have to give to him that only u can see. And second he actually made my laptop faster during the tune. He got rid of some useless programs sucking memory or whatever. The damn thing runs faster than it did before. Lol. No joke tho.
So that about sums it up. Any questions feel free to ask.
THanks for the kind words Luke it was a pleasure/ is a pleasure working / talking with you! We will bring it back to life as soon as the new turbos back on!

Also, in regards to the services i offer, a lot of its done the way ive done it with you, but those without tether, do a lot of email communication. It just depends. I wish everyone could do it the way you did it, but not a lot of people can tether.

But I do a mix of email and remote. Most people we will dial the vehicle in at their house on their wireless outside, then they will do pulls and communicate within email.

But i agree it works really well! Its the same as me sitting in the passenger seat almost and holding the laptop, but better for me, because I can work on a 1920x1200 24" lcd at home so i can take the time to smooth the maps to be almost perfect. check your rom! look how smooth your maps are, you will be very surprised. Tuning is like art to me. I don't even see v7 big maps as big anymore. they look small, because I've gotten so accustomed to the resolution.

Its funny you mentioned the oil in the turbo. I just sold a guy my other FP Black DBB that had 0 miles on it, and he also mentioned oil in the compressor inlet. FP told him it was also from venting issues. I know 3 other guys that have the oil in the inlet as well, but all their turbos seem to function just fine as is.

104 still gets the job done pretty well. I am very interested to see how we do with the added boost at higher RPM. it should be a big difference for you as well at high RPM.

And what caused the venting issue? And how can we addressed that and fix it? I mean no matter how well fp service is, it still takes time to take it out and and send it to them and vice versa.

Nice numbers as Tom always seems to accomplish. You mentioned that the turbo is brand new, is FP going to cover it under warranty ? I hope so and good luck, looking forward to seeing your e85 #'s.

I thought having an FP warranty is as good as having no warranty at all?

Yeah lol. If he was using the proper oil and lines I guess they should honor the warranty?

Yes it is at higher RPM. it allows you to increase the wgdc to get more boost out of the setup and avoid any kind of taper that may occur with a mbc on a restricted setup.

Personally i hate how a car feels spooling up with just a 3 port, so i figured out the hybrid boost stuff, which uses a mbc to spool entirely and the rest the 3 port gets to control the boost curve with the help of the mbc. it works great.

are you referring to the oil in the intake pipe or the turbo venting?

Thank you! FP's warranty system is excellent, they will warranty it no problem as long as hes the original owner.

I never heard of FP having a bad warranty system. from my personal experience they are awesome when it comes to that kind of stuff.

they will yes. for safe measures i wont pass 28psi on the next turbo at higher rpm. I would like him to get a black though, the black is far more acceptable to high boost. The red does have nice spool though to match the 2.0

I used the Fp lines that I bought with the turbo. I also used oil that FP recommends. (15w50 amsoil dominator seies) I bought the turbo myself NEW from Fp a few months ago and called to make sure they got my warranty card I filled out that i sent in. which they did. As far as their warranty I have NEVER heard of bad reviews regarding FPs warranty. All the reviews ive seen have been great and beyond great.
My and this is just my guess as to what killed my turbo is improper compressor wheel balancing. I say this because when I spin the shaft with the compressor wheel. I can see the pointy nut on the wheel wobble ever so slightly but none the less it wobbles. So im geussing when we had it boosting 30 psi the imbalance of the wheel caused the shaft to slightly bend. giving the wobble of the wheel and nut on spinning it. Now, this is just my uneducated guess. I am 99% sure nothing got sucked into the turbo. I just recently wrote Fp asking nicely if they would just send me a new turbo when they receive my bad one. Cause I know the task of them rebuilding could create a lot of downtime for me. That's if they don't have the parts they need to fix it. That is why I am hoping and praying they just send me out a new. I also noted in there that Id like a new turbo because I dont want one problem to be fixed only to have another problem happen miles down the road that resulted from the first problem. My guess tho is that my request will not happen. Not because they have a bad Warranty but just because I doubt there gonna send me off a new $2500 turbo at the drop of a hat.

If anyone has had a similar problem with their FP turbo please reply with what happened.
Ill keep posting the updates I receive from FP about the turbo.
Best case- they send me a new one rite away
Worst case (accepting warranty of course) they decide to rebuild it by putting in a new shaft or whatever is needed and they dont have the parts on hand and it takes over a month to get back.

Pray for me. lol.
thanx for all the good replys guys.

Luke.
