bad tune and bad deal at tuning technologies
Hello everyone I'm posting this thread on a recent experience I had with tuning technologies in colton ca. First off I just wanna say I used to be a loyal and faithful customer to this shop and always sent people for any kind of service they need for there evos or sti's or any vehicle for that matter always putting this shops image as #1. Up until recent a few months back now I did a drivetrains swap from 6 speed to 5 speed for more power reasons and I kept my good working 6 speed, well a month or so down the road after I did my trans swap Jenn from TT gives me a call and tells me there's a customer looking to buy a 6 speed for their car and I initially didn't have intent to sell so I tell her if I wanna sell I want 1,600.00 she comes back and says customer doesn't want to spend more then 1,000.00 dollars long story short they get me to agree on it and after that I come to find out the customer buying my transmission is a friend I knew here in my town and lives 5 miles away and he tells me they're selling him a 6 speed for 1,500.00 dollars and come to find out its my trans well me and my friend are 175 miles away from TT so they were trying to profit 500.00 on my trans. So Jenn was real pissed off when I told em deal was off and she acted as if it were there transmission not mine. So to go further into it I go and have my tune rechecked on my evo 9 for a 2nd opinion due to the fact it was running rough and come to find out I was knocking real badd, also found that the knock sensor was somehow bypassed so I wouldnt know that it was knocking pretty dirty huh. The tune was bad causing knock and eventually would lead to engine failure so I retuned my car with tscomp and now my car is running better then ever and real smooth with great power. Overall I can't believe the way this shop tried to screw me up despite I was so good to them and truly respected them. So here it is I asked for at least half the money back for the badd unsafe tune and they refuse to do anything about it.
The only comment I have is. They are in business to make a profit. They need to cover their overhead and pay their employees.
But, to make a profit of $500 on a component that did not require them to invest any of their money
and very little time is out of line. They were even untruthful in the process.
They had a honest right to make a fair profit, $100 to $200 maximum.
I would be upset if the same thing happen to me, Don

Well I know this is a problem but I thought I make people aware of what kind of shop tuning technologies is and to be aware of the tune u get because of issues u will incur with his tune.
Sorry this happened to you and unfornately your not the 1st or last that this will happen too... A lot of people have had issues w/ them when it comes to getting ripped off. I've had my share of bad encounters w/ them... I live about 10mins from their shop and I re fuse to ever go there again. I would rather travel 2 and half hours out to a shop that I trust and know that won't rip me off than to deal w/ this place again. Hope this post helps others in this community see how these people do business.

Well bhsj13 I thought my tune was good too why don't u go get a 2nd opinion and see for sure if its good I bet you"ll find out how bad it really is not to offend u or anything but its true. Try tscompusa that guy know how to tune.
I also got ripped off on the intercooler piping they sold me upper and lower they charged me ets pricing for 700.00 dollars but gave me a different brand that's worth way less I know because I have a friend that has the same piping I got and paid 500 for his and its identical and I was charged full price for a brand new spark tech ignition coils and given used ones they were trying to sell for 450.00 which I refused to buy because I wanted new they charged me new and gave me the used ones instead.

I understand the markup on the trans, most places do markups on parts so that their low labor rates bring people in, it's just part of the game man.
maybe next summer. i have to retune for 93 octane anyways since i am in an area with it available. but i will have to do a few other things before the tune. probably have slowpoke tuner tune mine when he comes up sometimes from florida to va.
Damn that's a sketchy shop thanks for the heads up. I got a pm from a guy at TT on socalevo if I ever needed any work done but now I will steer clear of it. I'll only go to road race or massimo power.
No problem its definetly been tough dealing with the problems I experienced with tuning technologies. I did the best things for that shop and they turn around and screw me up like that with no problem to them they don't give a crap about it either.
