39psi is quite a lot of boost to make 600whp. I would step up to a Black and lower the boost and make the same power. I hope it is a DBB Red.

Its only at 34psi where its making 600hp. But yes, the 39psi initial is a lot lol.

Amazing powerband. Impressive for a 2.0L with no mivec. Gotta love high boost high compression setups

It wouldn't matter if it were JB or BB.

I too would like to see this on an actual dyno, I don't typically believe peoples VD graphs.

Screw the dyno. Let's see some track times! I'm curious what it will trap

DBB handles those higher boost levels much better long term. The thrust bearings on the Journal bearings are too small and eventually fail at Max shaft speeds. That's why I said that. I wouldn't go crazy on a Journal Bearing and expect long term reliability.

Eh, a time slip doesn't mean anything for a street car IMO. Who really launches their cars and runs through 4th gear every time they step on it? The only comparison useful to me would be a true dyno graph.

I guess FP stating there is no difference in reliability when the customer takes proper care of the turbo is BS?

FP has recommended power levels for each turbo. Most people exceed those recommendations and therefore are no taking proper care of their turbo.

"Takes proper care of" can mean anything from using the right oil, to keeping the shaft speeds/boost levels appropriate for the bearing type. The JB stuff doesn't like much more than 30psi..

The last FP Red I dealt with prior to mine has made it 75k at over 30psi, and is now making close to 600 on a built motor. My experience with them is that I have only seen 1 failure which the owner chose to not run a filter on his.

Proper maintenance IMO:
-Right oil and changed at reasonable intervals
-Proper oil line
-Boost leak testing
-Not tuned past the limit (crazy timing/fueling)
-Not revving to the moon and back on turbos not meant for 9000rpm (overspin turbine)
-cooling down after real hard running

On topic - I'd still like to see this on VD without 3 people in the car for better accuracy and multiple runs backing up the number instead of a fluke that could easily be inflated, or simply on a Dynojet

Lil update: got the engine and trans out right now doing a built trans. i was running into major problems at the track last year and had hardcore clutch lock out and couldnt rev past 6.5k

yes i do take really good care of my car. amsoil dominator racing oil with a high flow oil feed and filter changing it every 2k miles at the max along with plugs. after a season of 39lbs and taking my car apart, the turbo still has very minimal shaft play and its a jb. im surprised how well this turbo is holding together after screaming with all that power. proper maintenance is my biggest priority for my evo.

im definitely going back to the dyno when i get my car back together to get a nice 30lb tune. after throwing 600whp at the car i kept breaking timing ****, knock issues, and the tranny issues were the worst part of it and its not worth the constant headache of maintenance and putting new plugs in every 800 miles. evos are a lot of fun when they are not maintenance queens and street applicable. the fp red is by far the best decision turbo i went with. the quick spool and power band kicks ***

ill keep you guys updated. follow my instagram for my build and track days.
