How did you guys go about building this turbo? Did you send in your evo 9 unit or simply order the CHRA and swap it in yourself? I've never done a CHRA swap so I'm not familiar with the process and or level of difficulty. If any of you guys sent in your turbos- what was the turn around time? Also- the FAP cover, is that more for anti-surge or for power increase as well? I'm definitely leaning towards this over an FP RED....

The cover is for anti-surge.
My plan is to buy the CHRA and just swap it out. 700 bucks? Cant go wrong for 450hp on corn juice.

Removal and installation of the hotside is easy. There is a clamp holding it on the turbo that you have to remove. Then lightly tap it with a deadblow to unseat it from the old turbo. There is an alignment pin in the CHRA so don't try to rotate it to loosen it up as you'll get nowhere.

I just ordered the 71HTA CHRA and did the swap myself. Had the turbo in 3 business days after ordering it, Michael at FP hooked it up. The swap is incredibley easy. Took my roughly 6 hours from start to finish with taking my time and even taking a lunch break. I managed to accomplish the swap without removing the hotside from the 02 housing/downpipe. No part of the exhaust was removed from the car. Only thing that has to be removed for obvious reasons is the exhaust manifold. Doing the swap was also the perfect time to do an oil change as I drained the oil from the car for the sake of the return line having to come off. The 84mm anti surge cover does exactly what its name implies, it prevents surge from occuring. This turbo is essentially a stock turbine wheel with a bigger compressor wheel. When I first orderd mine last fall FP didn't have any anti surge covers in stock, so I just rolled with the standard 64mm cover. Super sleeper status. If I could do it all again I would totally order the 84mm cover. As a matter of fact I'm considering ordering one next week. It won't give you an increase in power, it'll make the driveability much better.

You have a Frankenstein on 93! Your car makes more power on 93 than mine on E85!
I'm just scratching my head trying to figure out how!

All dynos read different. This one reads more like a dynojet than a "heartbreak" dyno.

On 91, I got to 350 hp. E85 gets me to 430. You're at 400 on 93? Still a beast.
I wonder how much more you'll get on E85.

Reliable turbo? My car is primarily a street car and I was thinking of getting the ETS 5858 kit but not sure if I want push that much power. Since I have an 05 should I get the ix chra so I can run the fap cover?
