Tuning
Tuning
Whats up everyone so I got my car tuned not going to say who but here in socal! Car ran with stock BOV and maf on e85 car made 389 @ 24/25psi! installed SD and 4bar map and car made 406 on e85, Boost will spike to about 29.7 and hold 22/24 psi to red line. Only thing that is different is again the SD setup over stock maf. I checked and fixed all boost leaks. Car is running stock 9 turbo not ported VRSF intercooler and upper/lower piping Innovation-USA SD intake, GSC S2 cams, 450 pump, buschur SD exhaust 1450cc injectors. dont ask me what numbers car made on pump its a long *** story so i dont even run pump gas. Will get a re-tune with a different tuner. The car pulls a lil bit better after the tune going from 389 to 406 but im not impressed at all! was on this dudes dyno for almost 6 hours. Also the car was already tuned he was just going to clean up the tune and change over some settings for SD setup. But again +17hp is all the car got after installing the new intercooler all new piping SD new fuel pump and only made 17 extra HP?? again not impressed!
Car has a AEM Tru Boost and the tuner said on e85 the duty % was almost at 100% so he made some changes and again i dont know he didn't give me that info. but boost would hit 29 and only hold 22 at most to red line. Then on pump gas he had the duty set to 0% and then went up to around up to about 75% but at 0% he said boost was hitting 29 psi at low RPM and he would not tune the car anymore on pump so he was putting the blame on my injectors/wastegate and boost leak. Yeah my injectors are not the best being FIC 1450's but again im not impressed. what do you guys think of this?
overall numbers are 406/400 @ 22psi evo 9 tubro

your turbo is maxed out. If all you care about is hitting some number on a screen than ice down your intercooler and manifold and crank up the timing. I know that's not what your after but chasing down a few extra HP to be happy isn't what its about. You can mod the engine as much as you want but the turbo can only move so much air, if you want more its time to upgrade it.
Out the top on a motor that can breath....sounds pretty maxed out to me. If you have a motor with smaller cams etc, that doesn't move as much air you might see a higher boost number, but that doesn't mean its moving more air.
Boost pressure is not equivalent to horsepower. It's about airflow and temperature of the air charge.
At some point, pushing a higher pressure out of a small turbo become counterproductive. Once you push too far out of the turbo's efficiency range, you're just blowing hot air.
You're not going to gain much, if anything, by pushing a IX turbo past 22psi at redline. If you can even get it to flow that much air in the first place. That size turbo just won't flow enough air to make more than 400-ish horsepower.

Idk i guess i was expecting more..
