It's a 2.0L, turbo prob doesn't spool very fast for the big torque hit down low. The altitude doesn't help with spool up either.

my guess would be to keep the rods in the block as long as possible, the cars got alot of rpm no need to give it all the torque down bottom, keeps things linear
