This is NOT my car, but another one we've built here at the shop. And I'm excited to finally have real results with this turbo on a dyno jet dyno and plenty of fuel system. This literally ALL OF IT, an additional 15% (in 5% increments) wastegate duty cycle didn't make more boost or power. It doesn't layover hard like its has back pressure, so I think this all the compressor flows. This was 30 psi ramped to 32 out the top. Didn't want to make more torque on the Exedy twin.
Thank you for posting.
I enjoy your posts, learn, and myself have a bit of a dilemma am working through, on my 2.3, - EFR7670 IWG or even 8374 IWG, of FP Red in California street car, that is mostly driven on pump, although Flex tuned.
What I noted is +75whp with SS G30-770, with 1000rpm loss of spool.
On FP Red you had 600whp from 6200 to 7200 and it carried fine to 8000, than dropping to 500 by 8300/8400rpm. What a powerband on stock frame clean look street car.
Now you lost quiet a bit below 4800-5000rpm, but maintain +75whp from 6000 to 8300rpm.
Seems like it will be a bit of an intense driving experience, meaning not as relaxed torque rich driving in higher gear, quickly spooling up and getting going, rather planning, downshifting, maintaining powerband.
Wondering if twin scroll would achieve similar top end, fill in the torque at the bottom, and provide you with most-gain and nearly no loss?
I think EFR8374/8474 IWG TS should spool hardly later than FP Red, and give similar top end. Shooting from the hip, remembering observations.
So, this graph isn't my car, it's a clients. My car has mivec and that is good for an pretty easy 300-500rpm improvement in spool up.
That being said, driving this car on the street is extremely enjoyable. The later whip into power is resolved with gear selection. On gasoline, this setup smokes the FP red. Easily an additional 85-100whp.
I'm not an EFR fan. I don't like having to be worried about the turbine falling off the shaft. So those aren't an option to me.
Thank you. Appreciate the description, including smoking an FP Red by 85-100whp.
We live in hilly area, so conditions are a bit different from Las Vegas vast open roads.
And on pump gas we cannot push so hard, thus EFR spool is appreciated. But FP Red effectiveness is also appreciated.
Looking forward very much to see your car, the 300-500 spool advantage is what I look forward to, that is really a lot, kind of splits this in the middle, I'd say quiet a sweet spot if you can have 675whp and be spooled up by 4500rpm, hold though 8500+.
Congratulations. Looking forward to more updates as you tune it. Am excited to hear about ArTec manifold as well. You know how tubular manifolds push out heat, so much more than OEM Cast. Would like to know your impressions about ArTec, how does it emit heat.

Not sure. On the X's we put the stock heat shield back in the stock frame manifold. And this is 2 stage ceramic coated by Jet hot.
