04 Evo Rs Security- What are my options?

I have an 04 Rs and before I get into any modding of the car I wanted to beef up security with wheel locks, alarm and remote pager. Without having power locks and windows, do I have any options. I could settle for wheel locks and a pager showing if someone was tampering with my car. Noise does not mean to much to me.

What would be the ultimate in security these days as far as combinations go???

from me being an alarm installer and so forth, i would go with a 2 way paging dei product such as a viper 791xv, python 881xp, clifford =rsx3.5. these are very good alarm paging units. never any problems, also good for the remote start and turbo timer. for my buddies i install these for, i like to install them with no flashing red led and using the factory horn for the noise. the horn is a lot louder then the damn siren. i like doing this because if someone tries to steal it, they will not be prepared for the alarm as it goes with someone with a flashing led, some1 will come back prepared for the alarm. thats what i would do. and also with a proxmity sensor

Thanks for the advice. So a two way pager with a proximity to set off the Horn would be the way to go without a visual. Where would be a good place to buy this and have it installed and what would I expect to pay. What kind of sensors are put in to activate the pager??? I am kind of clueless to alarm systems. I thought that I would have to have power locks set up first, but that is not the case, right?

everything will be wired up to the alarm and on the dei 2 way pagers. it will even tell you which zone was ****ed with . ex: if it was a hood or trunk. it will tell u on the pager. if it was by shock then it will display a hammer hitting the car. for that prox sensor, it will tell u sensor 2. i highly reccomend the prox to anyone because it will put sort of like a force field around ur car and if anyone gets into that zone then it will go off. thats what i would do. shop around online for the best prices online. i still have my shop here in sacramento, but with people that are all over the forums, i cannot beat any online price for anything 12 volt. consumers online get the same prices i get from my dist. if you want to, its better off to install urself. so everyting is tucked and neat. when i do my personal cars, i hide the alarm brain behind the cluster and wrap every wire in electrical tape so nothing is noticed. pm me if you need some help. thanks also look into the viper 791xv. you wont go wrong. the only other things that u would have to buy for it would be the immobilizer bypass module. and the prox sensor. but when you get the alarm, its all ready to go out the box. you can even add the prox at a later time

Thanks Apex, I really Appreciate the info. I will be looking for the viper this week. I keep hearing all this stuff about the Evo being an often stolen car. I think I am going to hold off on the spoiler because that is the eye grabber.

Hey man,

My 2005 Evo was stolen, and I recently picked up a new car. I have the Python 881xp installed and so far I can say its very nice.

I talked to many different installers who have all basically said the same thing. Direct Electronics Inc. (dei) makes all the big names you've been hearing about: Viper, Clifford, Python, and a bunch others. They basically run the show when it comes to car security.

I've heard that it really doesn't matter which of these systems you get since they're all made by the same company. I happened to purchase mine from Circuit City because they were the only place capable of doing a same-day install. So far (day 3) I havn't had any problems and the system works great.

The 2-way LCD pager system is very nice, and displays everything people have been telling you about. It also has a pretty decent range (better than the stock lock/unlock receiver).

I should also note - there are many cool things you can do with this security system. I have it set so that after driving my car, once I turn the car off, open and close a door, then after 30 seconds the car automatically locks and alarms itself. It's a cool feature if you've ever forgot to lock your car or something. Also the controller has many auxillary options if you ever wanted to hook something else up to your alarm system. It can control basically any other function that you can put on a relay!

Now I also installed a backup battery with a 110 decible ear piercing alarm which mounts under my steering wheel (so that anyone trying to hotwire the car will be dying because of the sound). Its also very important to get the backup battery because theifs who know what they are doing will approach your car with a 12V battery, attach it to your frame and completely fry your electrical. They then smash the window, release your E-break and roll it onto a trailer or something.

Total Cost: $575 installed.

That includes both ignition AND starter disconnect (its normally only starter disconnet so I had them add the ignition disconnect), plus the backup battery and 110 decible backup alarm. Circuit City did a great job too. Good luck!
