I think my comps are 6.5". I had to make a baffle to house the drivers so that it could be mounted to the front door cutouts. No biggie, just use thin board or mdf for the baffle...

Anyways, on my RS I have Eclipse 8xxx headunit mated to delphi XM tuner all connected to two separate amps, JL audio component speakers ( a MUST!!!) and 12" alpine sub.

Basic but cranks clean when you need that escape!

Install them yourself and enjoy the experience...
By meaning the HU has so much clarity..but your running off a 4ch? Does the deck have build in EQ/X-over/ HIpass low pass filters? Whats the voltage outputs on your "highend" eclipse?..thats what matters. Also watts per channel can mean nothing if your running a 4ch.
Also some poeple buy RS's because the soley want a track car..and will prob keep it striped and no system. Others might buy it becasue its the cheeper model yet still an evo..and would want to upgrade later. I would not suggest the factory headunit and oem speakers unless you are realllllly broke and need tunes BAD. Invest in something a little more higher quality that you can actually put to good use and has functions that can help you.

It's the combination of good HU and its complementing parts that include decent component front speakers w/ crossovers and separate amps - Eclipse amp w/ 50wx4 average and jbl unit w/ 300wx2.

HU puts out 8v signal and also has its crossovers. Nothing fancy but pure and clean.

Pioneer 7800 is a good choice, nice options with an ok interface and 24 bit dac. Get the Premier version though for the better warranty. In my opinion the nicest looking head unit now for a reasonible price is the Premier 880prs.

all 6.5's & 6.75's will fit but will require work as the stock speaker is a Euro-Din 7". my midbass had a mounting depth of 3" vs the stock 2 1/16" so when i put them in the door, the window wouldn't roll down! so i made a baffle out of MDF & then trimmed the inside of the door panel so it would go back on the door...

slight change of direction

going with:

If you end up getting the speakers, and they don't fit, make yourself a trim-ring set out of .25" mdf.... Simple, yet effective.
