Question Back-up camera install

I'm trying to install a back-up camera. Has anyone else done this, if so What wire do I tap into to signal the camera to come on? Thanks

What head unit/av unit are you using? On mine there is a lead for the reverse lights and a connector for the camera on the a/v unit and I have the alpine d310 and nav unit.

I'm putting in IVA D100. There's a line for reverse lights and a connector on the back for it. I don't know where to tap this into. I think the line that I did tap into is hot all the time, not just when the reverse lights come on. (I think the wire was brown but not sure.. will check tomorrow). Trying to make it so when you put the car into reverse, the camera gets power or defautly comes on to the head unit.

I actually tapped right into the reverse wire itself in the back where they connect, or you can trace it from where it connects at the back and follow it through and under the back seat. I forget which side it's on. It shouldn't be hot all the time, only when you have the reverse lights are on. I'm not 100% sure but I would think that is it were always hot that it would stay in camera mode and always show it on the screen.

ive thought about these in the past how well do they work?? Does the camera connect on your license plate, thats where i have usually seen it. Ive thought about it but would assume it might get stolen or break. Have you guys had any problems with that?
