e-brake wiring issue?

Before I go into details:

- I checked fluid level and it is good.
- I don't have an aftermarket front LSD (This is on a 04 SSL Evo with open diff)

Issue: When I drop the e-brake handle, the light dimmens slightly, but stays on.

I tried to see if it was the switch, but doesnt seem to be the issue. I even removed the switch and tried grounding wire seperately.

Only issue I can tell is that wire was broke when I got the car - I soldered it back on.

Are there any fuses for the e-brake? I didnt find any particular ones in the onboard glove box

I don't care about the e-brake and would eliminate the bulb, but I know it also displays low brake fluid which I would like to have for track use!

Any ideas?

mifesto - Yes, I thought the same. So, I cut the solder off , stripped the wire and then even added some swire, twisted it on and then attached it to the switch - as well as removed switch and directly on to e-brake and still nothing.

Something is happening as it dims, but doesnt go out completely. Baffling me so far!

honestly i havent touched that area since i havent had the reason to, but if i saw a 'dim' light i would first attack grounding issues. sory wish i can give u more suggestions... i'd have to study the shop book electronic diagram to see how the indictator is wired myself.

Yes, I was wondering if that wire wasnt grounding, per say to kill the display. Its a single wire which makes me wonder else it could need to work. If you do ever look into this, I'd love to know. Else, I may resort to removing the light and checking fluids after every event or inbetween events!

if dropping the ebrake has some effect on the light then i would say that the ebrake circuit isn't the problem. Check the fluid switch and make sure it and the wiring to it are good. As far as i know those are the only two inputs for that light.

check your brake pads. That light can come on when the pads are getting to small.

Thanks guys, I will check the pads as well - I assumed thin pads will cause low fluids, so I checked fluids, not pads!
