Rear Window Defroster

All of the "lines" on the rear defroster do not "heat up" it almost appears as if something scraped at them preventing them all from connecting.

Is there a fix for this? The frost and soon to come snow are a pain to get rid of without the heat.

Thanks,
-Ray

Bump for an answer, I am sure there is some sort of "glue" with metal particles in it to conduct the electricity but I was wondering if anyone has fixed this before.
