The feeling of relief you get once you mount the bezel in there is tremendous, let me tell you Keep up the good work!

Project on hold til my next paycheck (5 days). To quote my wallet from earlier today..."Ouch!"

I have to buy some 3M flexible goop and some other goop to fab the bezel. Both together are about 75 bucks including shipping.

I also have to get a small amp. I can either buy the HQCT-eA or wait for the other new amp from XTroniC...either way there is another 200-300 bucks.

I still haven't bought my BU-353 yet, either. Another 100 and change...

Well, my raise hits my paycheck for the first time on the 15th, so its only temporary. I tried to pay off too much this month on the credit card and overpaid...

I still have to make a decision on the radio...in order of lowest to highest sound quality...

Choice 1:

HQCT-eA w/ built in amp to simply power the speakers = $3XX

Choice 2:

HD Radio and...

Choice 2A:

Small 4 channel USB audio amp that is not out yet... = approx. $4XX

Choice 2B:

Real amp mounted in the trunk = approx. $1000

UPDATE:

Dug an old Kenwood Excelon amp I had laying around. Will use that temporarily until I save up enough for the Zapco amp and processor I want.

Got a BU-353 for GPS in the mail and I will be using an HD radio receiver with the "Mitch" serial cable from MP3car.

I have ordered the materials to fab my bezel and they should be here soon. Once I get that done into the car it goes.

I got the "goop" in the mail yesterday so I can proceed with the bezel fab. I wanted to finish it up this weekend but I have to fly to Pennsylvania for my Grandmother's funeral.

I have also made some progress on my navigation system. I am writing a .NET program that uses DirectX to display the maps in 3D. It will be using OpenSourceMaps since they are free and good quality.

I will keep updating as I make progress.

questions about your diagram-
you used MS Visio to make this?
what is a SPDIF connection? and why do you need both spdif and usb to go to the processor in the trunk? what exactly is this processor?

And lets get some trunk pics eh? heh
