Placement of microphone for Pioneer Bluetooth Module
If you have this for your sound system, where did you place / install the mic? Can't really figure out where the best place would be. Somewhere hidden / inconspicuous would be perfect. Shed some insight!
You have an MR? What about the sunglass holder? I dont have this unit, but if you post a pic of the mic Ill give you a thousand places to put it. I know the dash in and out. A pretty good spot would also be just inside the left-center AC vent. post a pic!
Look just to the right of your ignition key and to the left of the stereo. You'll see a small square in the plastic with little slots cut in the plastic. It's a 1/2" by 1/2".
You can reach in there by laying down with your head by the pedals. Look up and reach up there and there is a little ledge. You can mount the microphone on the little ledge with some double sided tape.
When you have it mounted here, it's completely out of sight and works perfectly.

Although it's a bit ugly there, I decided to mount it there as functionality is more important to me.
Thanks everyone for your input / suggestions.
I took off the top off the steering wheel column and drilled two small holes right where it dips down in the back. I zip tied the mic back there and havent had any problems and you cannot see it unless you are looking for it. plus it is extremely easy to wire in.
I've been thinking about putting mine in my RS single din panel next to my Tru-Boost, but i was also going to see if I could get the clip into the headliner.
The small slats near the ignition are for the key/belt/etc warning buzzer. I can see that being a decent spot, but I could also imagine that a ton of the sound would get blocked out there.
I didn't think about right above the ashtray, but I was also thinking of driilling two small holes into the top (3/4-7/8 up) of the A pillar on the side nearest the windshield, then I could just zip tie it there. Pretty low key and still very functional location.

Actually there is nothing behind those small slats. They would be used had we had climate control. There is no line of site to them though and it is difficult to get to so i wouldnt use them.
I have mine mounted at the top of the A pillar. I have a pioneer and the sunvisor mount will clip onto the top of the A pillar and the mic will point right at you. It works great for me and it does not interfere with the visors at all. I have also done 2 Ford trucks the same way.

Right, I was saying that I didn't think it would be a good spot because of the sound being blocked by all of the material there. I didn't realize that was for the EUDM/JDM climate control, on other cars thats always where I've seen the buzzer.
I was just about ready to settle for drilling two small holes in the top of the a-pillar when I decided to try putting it under the mount for the sun visor last night. While that didn't work, pulling off the sun visor made it very easy to pull the headliner down just enough to get the clip behind it. Now its dead center, not really in the way, and doesn't block anything..... plus, no cutting or drilling!
I'll try to get a pic for you guys later.

Theres some horrible pics of my placement. Maybe I'll take some better ones later.
