Interior Fuses 12v-constant source
Interior Fuses 12v-constant source
I promised I'd follow up on an alarm light install that I posted questions about earlier.
I chose the tiny panel on the dash board between the defrosters as my light location. Easy access easy to replace if I have a problem or want to remove the light. The ONLY trick is be careful! When I pulled it out to drill a hole it dropped down into the dash board. One hour later and several tools covered with sticky tape I finally fished it out.
First the typical fuse-tape I found do not fit. Even trying to modify them and taper them the opening is just too tight so they do not fit. Fortunately the way the fuse sockets are make it easy to get a wire in and make contact securely.
For a 12v ignition I used the cruise control fuse with my radar detector.
For the 12v constant I first tried the Dome Light (Fuse #18). It does have constant 12v power but there was not only NO FUSE but there was a plastic piece between where the fuse would plug in that doesn't allow a fuse to go in.
I then decided to check Fuse # 17 which is not labeled as anything in the book and did NOT have a fuse in it. It worked just fine so I added a 10A fuse and everything seems fine.
Questions??
Anyone know why there is no fuse in #18 and it has a fuse blocker?
Anyone know what Fuse #17 is or if I may cause any problem adding a 10A fuse where there was not one earlier??
Is everyone elses #18 and #17 setup like this???
Everything works that I can see.

I had the same issue on my 2005 with improperly mapped fuse locations, both in the owner's manual and on the plastic tray that you remove to access the fuse block. Did anyone ever answer this question???

The dome light/radio fuse is in the engine bay. Don't ask me why they labled it in the interior then put it in the enginebay fuse box. I had a heck of a time when the headunit that I bought was defective and blew the domelight/radio fuse

it is mischarted, and it really bugs me. I just use the guess and check method to find a 12v constant and 12v ignition wire. Our electric door locks fuse is a constant, the cigarette lighter is switched ignition.
