Oh, it's pretty simple then. The easiest way to do it is to tap off the rear speaker wires and connect them to an amplifier that is compatible with speaker level inputs, or you can wire them to what's called a Line Out Converter, which will convert your speaker signal down to RCAs to feed your amp. Unfortunately, the volume of you sub(s) will be based on the bass and volume settings of your head unit. Some/most amps do come with a remote knob that will give you a little bit of independent control.

not completely true, get a hi to low converter and hook it up. and turn the level on your amp up. and have a bass knob, just cause you hook you amp to your speaker wires does mean you cant have really big basss. not calling you out or anything, just stating the truth(and we had to hook up my friends TC like that, and his hits hard)

its not gonna be that notice able dude, i plan on putting 2 type R 12s in my car with fiberglass boxes that wiegh less that 10 pounds each so an extra 100 pounds tops, prolly not even that much all set up isnt going to hurt it. if it does then dont let your car get over a quarter tank if your concerned about weight that much, seriously. people that arent weight ****** and track there cars every weekend. arent really concerned about 70 pounds. if you dont like what he has to say or your gonna talk crap then dont post. cause your just lowering yourself to someones elses level. ima put a stereo, he is. so what. we like bumping and going fast. but like i said 70 pounds, you wont even notice

Whoa, chill the f out. I owned an VIII for the last five years and had two JL 10w6v'2 in it for three years. Never once went to the track, never once was concerned about speed. The fact is when I took the JL's plus box out, the car got considerably faster. When talking about weight reduction on a 4500 lb car, it means little. When talking about an Evo VIII coming in at ~3300 lbs, it starts to matter.

I'm not flaming anybody. I took my fair share of flaming as an VIII owner who did not conform to this forums "performance orientated" members. Bump away to you too, dude

never just simply put your gains on an amp up- you need to match MAX voltage out and match it to the amp gains.

hey its cool ill bump all i want, but its not gonna effect my 0-60 by anymore than a quarter of a second, and then with the power mods i plan to do. i dont think ill have any trouble racing GT mustang like my brothers(and hes beaten everything around hear more than once, all the way up to 150 in 4th gear with rpms to spare(and 5th gear)so i dont think its that big of a deal) like i said 70 pounds is getting mak it totally notice able. and if you think so then get a tune(if stock) and you will be even faster than you were before with you stereo. and maybe your stuff weighed more than what im talking about, and you had JLs, those HAVE to HAVE alot of airspace to perfrom correctly, so you had to have big boxes, or BOX, so yours prolly weighed around 100 pounds or more

I didn't say you couldn't have "big" bass. I said you won't have independent control of subwoofer volume without getting out of the car and adjusting gain (which is a horrible idea). To adjust sub volume you will have to adjust your bass setting, which will affect the entire system, or use your fader, which will also affect your rear speaker volume. Most "bass knobs" for amplifiers are only bass boost controls and vary a specific frequency (and the immediate range around it, depending on the slope) and are not actual level controls.

And JLs don't need any more enclosure than anything else comparable.

putting two 10's in my car with a sealed .5 cu/foot chambers with two amps had enough weight to make my rear end drop .5 inch in the suspension.
