Immobilizer Question

I have had my car in pieces for the past several months. Finally back to 95% complete, wanted to test start. The car will crank, but is not firing or pumping fuel. Is that the immobilizer putting me on lock down? If not, how does the immobilizer actually immobilize?

Thanks.

hmm, in my expirence the immobilizer won't even let you crank the car. Try checking you plug wires or something. good luck hope this helps.

Is the immobilizer the same thing as the "theft deterent" where your key needs to be mated with the ECU? After the dealer replaced my ECU my spare key (which was at home and didn't get reprogrammed) would still start the car but then it would die after like 3 seconds. My understanding was that it was the immobilizer killing the engine...but it would let it start up.
