Need help with a SRS fault code...

Have an Insue in my VII where when I purchased it, there was no SRS light in the dash. when installed I realised it stayed on. So I had a friend check it today and it comes u as

27 dpt squib trouble 2

I did some checking and it seems that it is the pre tensioner in an open circuit.

But I'm not too sure what they mean by an open circuit. Is it something that has to be replaced?

you will need to reset the code by a scanner or replace the module.
I believe the pretensioner is in the seatbelt circut.

that is right. the pretensioner is the clasp that your seatbelt connects to. most of them have an electrical circuit in them to detect if seatbelt is latched together. most likely it is bad but could also be a wire problem......gl

Related question... I pulled out the srs connector to the seat belt mech. when this happened a small plastic piece broke now I can get someone to send me their entire mech with the wires cut to put in my evo will this turn that light off (given I connect these wires perfectly) or will I need to find a shop to reset something

SRS can only be reset with the proper scanner.

would love to hear of another option.

Just reviving this, but if it's the clasp, wouldn't the seatbelt light go out on the dash once the belt is connected?

The belt warning light goes out once the belt is connected. I may just decide to buy a pre tensioner and see...

Waiting for a tactrix 1.3u cable to come in so I'm hoping their 2.6 version can clear SRS codes...
