dont know about the v1, but got this from car & driver

................ because there is almost no "signal scatter" for a laser detector to pick up, most detectors can't warn you when Smokey is using lidar until the beam is already focused on your car-and that's usually too late to avoid a speeding ticket.

........thats if they were using lidar.

Another thought is that you might not have upgraded it to have burst or pop mode? My v1 use to be missing this feature, but I sent it in for the upgrade. You can tell because it will flash p....o....p when you first turn it on.

Are there any detectors that are able to pick up the lidar before its too late?

Detectors are illegal in VA, I think they have detectors for our detectors

They do have Detector Detectors.. and they USE them in VA.

The Bell STi is 99.9% undetectable. One of the best if you need to stealthy.

They also have a complete hidden unit too... ALL out tricky. BTW they work fantastic.

Send your Valentine 1 in for an update - it probably needs it plus Valentine will update your V1 for free.

Case in point - I'm following my GF in her car the other night and she starts to brake. I notice a bike cop about 100 yards up the road but my V1 doesn't go off. Later I asked her if her V1 went off and she said yes thats why she slowed down and that it was KA radar.

She has a brand new V1 and mine is about three years old. I'm sending it in for updates this week.

You probably don't have pop or burst mode on yours. That is what they do to get an estimate of your speed and then they flip the radar full on to confirm, because technically they aren't suppose to use burst to get an official reading since it isn't as accurate.
