removing ssl subwoofer?

Hey I just got 2 12 inch subs that im wanting to put in but i cant seem to get the ssl sub removed. The more golden screws refuse to come out for me with both power drill and screwdrivers. I there any trick to getting it out or should I just keep trying to loosen those bolt? I can see the red and black wirings that I need but they disappear into the plastic case for the infinity sub. Any help is appreciated. And by the way I have a 2006 ssl evo if that makes a difference.

If you have 2, 12" subs, you shouldn't be powering them off the stock amp anyways, you're going to need an aftermarket amp to power those. If they are phillips head screws get an impact screwdriver although I thought that they were 10mm bolts.

yeah I have the amp and all that, all I need to do is remove the stock sub so I can use the wiring and Id be set. Ill try the impact screwdriver though.

and yeah my bad there are a few screws and the ones that are even harder to get off are the bolts.

When I removed my SSL sub IIRC there were two bolts and one screw. The screw went into a piece of plastic rather than a solid chunk of metal. I think your bolts are stripped or something. Do they spin freely or are they seized in there? It should be extremely simple and took me about a minute to take out. You may need to drill out the bolts...

alright well now i feel stupid because i didnt convert 10 mm to the right size in inches (thats what my tools are in) but I got the bolts out. Now the only thing keeping the sub in is the black and red wires. Is there a way to open up the housing to get the full length of the wires out because the part that is showing out of the sub housing is only a few inches and I dont think it would be long enough to get the the input on my new subwoofers.

would prying it open by the middel crack work? I dont really care about the stock sub only the wiring so it wouldnt be horrible if it got broken as long as the wire stayed intact

I dont think you want to use that wire to power your new subs. I assume you are installing a new amp? If so connect the pre amp outputs from your head unit to the amp. Then run the wires from your amp to the sub.
