Alpine 9883 install

Thinking of picking up a 9883 used....

I am just plan to run with stock speakers or maybe components and a amp so I do not need anything to spectacular.... Just low cost and ipod capability...

Anyways....

Just wondering if I need a faceplate trim piece for install? Or do are cars not need it?...

Too bad you went with Eclipse. I´m a big fan of Alpine. I will install a 9815 in my Evo VII. Bought it back in 2004 and still sounds great!

Trim piece won't be needed for install, unless the gap between the deck and the panel bugs ya.

I have an Alpine 9883 installed in my car by the previous owner and I personally don't really care for it. The sound is nothing spectacular and the controls for the sound are very basic. I would expect a lot more for a stereo that retails for as much as this one does. The iPod controls work well but that's about the only thing I like about it. My trim ring also popped off the other day and now it won't go back on. If I had the money I'd swap it out with a Panasonic. I've had a couple of those and the sound is great in them and equalizer controls are awesome. Allows you to really fine tune the sound.
