I would like to remove my HU entirely and replace it with a panel that will contain gauges and a lap timer.

In removing the HU and the Hazard/ Passenger air bag switch I (apparently) damaged the ribbon cable which, when I powered back up, shorted out the passenger air bag circuit board. The hazards work but the passenger air bag "off" is on, always. I can see that the circuit traces are fried.

Can somebody tell me where to find a replacement circuit board for the Hazards/ Pass air bag light? Anybody know the part number?

Can I just disconnect this ribbon cable (once I get a new circuit board for the passenger air bag light and hazard switch) How do I bypass the ribbon cable hook up if I remove the HU? Do aftermarkets HUs all have the same ribbon connector?

i am in the same boat (sorta) messed up the ribbon cable when removing my stock HU and then when i tried to push that cable back in to the stock HU it crossed one of the little silver cables and poof hazard circuit board BAD... anyone know the part number or exactly what i ask for in a replacement? i called the stealership and the guy couldnt find anything in regards to the hazard switch assembly.. HELPPPPPP because now my after market stereo wont turn on due to that one trace on the board burnt up.

 

problem solved.. broke out the soldering iron and fixed it myself... way to go me... saved a bazillion dollars...
