I just picked up an 04 evo 8. The air condition is continuously running in any setting when air is turned on. The AC shuts off when I return the knob back to the off position. But as soon as I place air on the AC automatically runs, even when I turn the knob all the way to heat....pressing the AC button is clearly not doing it, I press it, it stays on. I am assuming there is a faulty switch. Can anyone point me in the right direction, thanks in advance

i think mine is always on when i have it on defrost. does it do it on all settings? or do you have the defrost on??

What about the temperature setting. On the Evo X, if you have the temp on the coldest setting, the AC will run. One knotch above the lowest and you can turn the AC off with the button. Its dumb. Dont know if the older Evos are that way.

I discovered the problem. I took the radio/ hvac panel off and removed to the buttons from the controller. The functions work as they should when buttons are removed and push on the the contact buttons...my function buttons are worn on the back side and need replaced, thanks for the advice though
