A/C knob question

When turning the ac knob i feel like it doesnt catch on sometimes i have to go back to hot and spin it slowly to cold so i can switch over. For the first time yesturday i was on the highway stuck in traffic trying to put on the a/c and nothing was going on only hot air and as soon as it started moving the ac went on. Another thing i noticed is the when i turned the heat knob i feel like it turning on my gas pedal. Anyone know whats going on? Sorry if this has already been discussed but i did check first!!

Thanks guys

Now I see why evolved members get mad when pepl just post threads on stuff that's been covered.. The first time I had a problem on my RA I went to google searched 2004 lancer ralliart timing belt vibration and bam! First link evolutionm and everybody was great help.. Are you sure you searched or do you just want to be spoon feed information or just to lazy to read the threads.. There is revised gears for the box and sounds like your cable is bent I wouldn't turn it until you get the new gears and new cable cause your knob will break off... SEARCH SEARCH SEARCH SEARCH last time I'll give you information

^well that may have been a bit harsh. sometimes specific problems may not always have been covered.

like he said it is possible that your cable may be bent. did you by chance check behind there and see if the gears or anything was broken back there?

sitting at idle with the a/c on blows somewhat hot air for me as well but when you move its cold. not sure but it may be the compressor clutch or something beginning to go out. i just left it as is since i hardly ever use a/c anyway. i like to roll my windows down to save gas
