Question 06 EVO RS - stereo install

New to the site. Been checking out the DIYs and all the forums for a while. Recently picked up my first EVO. 06 RS. Love it so far.

So did a basic stereo install because the 13hr drive from Dallas, TX to Ft. Knox, KY was so awesome with an iPod and headphones:

Alpine CDE-125BT
POLK 660 4ch AMP
Pioneer TS-A1674R (x4)

Setup is from head unit to amp, from amp to speakers via the factory wiring (located behind the head unit).

And of course the alternator whine came into play. I've googled the issue, and checked the forums on here. I've re-grounded the head unit and the amp, no fix. I've checked all the wires, no issues.

The weird thing is that the whine is only in the REAR speakers. For the life of me this makes zero sense. I originally thought it was a bad 2 channels the amp. But I switched the wiring of the front and rear speakers to opposite channels and the whine was still there in the rear speakers.

My thought at first would be that at some point in the factory wiring the ground for the rear speakers is somehow touching a piece of metal in the frame. But it would be a total PITA to go through and figure out exactly where this is happening. My last ditch effort is going to be getting brand new speaker wire, re-wiring directly from the rear speakers to the amp, and praying that I don't get the whine.

Does anyone have any suggestions or have the same issue? If the new speaker wire doesn't work I'm spent on ideas.

Thanks in advance.

::FIXED::

To anyone who has the same issue the problem ended up being the amp power cable running alongside the RCAs (under the driver side plastic). I pulled it up and re-routed it along the right side of the drivers seat (under the carpet). Whine was completely eliminated.

This was after I rewired the rear speakers with new 16g wire.

I am still totally stumped as to why the whine was only coming from the rear speakers.... oh well its gone now!

:cheers:

good catch! it always a good idea to run the power lines away from audio.
