Starter issues... Need some suggestions.

So I just replaced the starter and the battery in my car..
I'm still having issues getting it to start. Every time I turn the key all I hear is a click... Sometimes if I hold the key there for a few seconds it sometimes starts. Any suggestions of what could be causing it not to start after I have already replaced the starter and the battery?

Also if I hook it up to a battery charger or if I have some jump me it starts right up... Could it be a ground on the starter or...?

I have a very similar issue. At times (mainly after the car is already warm) I get a click when turning the key. If I turn the key enough times (like 20-30) it will eventually kick over and start. I think I have it narrowed down to a couple of things:
1- would be the battery - maybe it's getting old and not providing enough "cranking" amps to start
2- starter. Maybe the starter is going out and doesn't work the way it should
3- grounds. I'm thinking maybe the ground to the starter is either loose or dirty and not making a good connection?

Either way it's extremely frustrating... I never know if the car will start back up after it sits for a bit.

check the power and ground to the starter. make sure they both make very, very good contact.

The fact that you say it starts right up with a jump or on a charger tells me it's a bad connection on the battery itself.
