Question Help with pivot meter v

Installed this and finally absolutelyu got speed signal wire with white on speedo side and green wire on ecu side and still got nothing happening...i had power, ground and green wire to ecu and touched white wire to ground as suggested in manual and it jumped all around the place as it said it was surposed to, but yet after connecting white wire it still won't work and my regular speedo not working either as i guess it not running through the unit...the only last thing i can guess at is maybe the ground isn't great and thats why it is not working but if that was the case would that test i did not have worked either? anyway if anyone could help or has had similar problems i could really use the help thanks.
