*new* depo making replica JDM 7 taillights
I work for a dealership, not Mitsubishi. I can say with first hand experience that oem head lights and tail lights leak as well, not just aftermarket ones. Then seeing the part prices for these head and tail lamp assemblies makes me sick.
If after market lamps are even close to being as good, and I can replace them 3 times for the same amount of cash as an oem unit then my choice is easy. Just food for thought.

For reals. I bought some Depo headlights for one of my Volvos (glass) since they were ~$300 a set as opposed to $800 each, then I bought Volvo corner lights since they were plastic and I figured more leak prone. 5 months later the Volvo corners would fog up, the Depo lights were fine for years including when I sold the car.
Point of reference regarding Mitsubishi lighting.... we no longer even warranty lamps for sealing issues unless there is enough water in them for guppies. Fogging is so common on OE lighting they no longer consider it a failure until it is so bad that you have a swimming pool in there.... at which point there is likely impact damage anyway.
Buy what makes you happy.... both "can" leak, and neither is really more or less reliable than the other, not to any degree that can be accurately verified. The production volume differences as well as the multiple OE vendors from year to year make any comparison foolish.
^what he said. I just came across these after giving up a while back when we had a thread to have these put into productiong. I'm surprised to see them producing these....did the emails that we sent depo start this?
While I had JDM Evo VII tails on my VIII, I'm not afraid of Depo. There is a huge thread in the Evo X audio and electrical section about Evo X Depo headlights. While they are not on par with OEM SSS projectors and they don't have leveling motors, you can retrofit in Hella Evo X-R projectors that are bixenon direct drop-in fitment, and the light output will blow OEM away. So you're looking at half the cost with some extra work. I found workmanship to be excellent, and the parts that sucked, I removed.
YMMV, and I know the VII taillight color might be wrong in a couple spots, but don't count out Depo for a good replacement, because it makes sense sometimes.
They have highly upped their quality, IMO:

Just got mine in a few min ago. I did a quick test fit and reverse light test on my lunch break. The reverse light is actually not as red or pink as I thought it would be, the picture doesn't capture it very well, but it is more white than I thought it would be. the over all construction is good, I was just worried about the reverse light, but after seeing it in person I am happy with my choice. I apologize for the dirty the car and the crappy phone pictures.
