Negative Battery Terminal

I replaced the Negative Terminal because it was cracked. The Wire was not long enough being bolted to the body, I unbolted it and it reaches, but does that need to be bolted there?

PS. All threads I searched had no answers...

No it doesn't need to be bolted there but if you make a new place to mount it you need to clean off the paint and make sure its a good ground. If not you will have other problems.

i have the same issue and was thinking about cutting off the terminal and soldering another piece of wire (similar/same gauge) with a ring terminal on it so it can reach, thoughts/ideas/opinions? not really sure what to do about it.
