Hi guys

Since I swapped 6speed M/T for 5speed my reverse light sensor became incompatible with rest of the installation. I thought I would be smart and just put 6speed light sensor into my 5speed transmission but it turned out that the "button" in the sensor is not getting pressed by some element of the transmission that is responsible for it. I think it's because of height difference in those sensors. I dont want cut my harness so... I am making an adapter according to this schema:


Since I already bought 6speed reverse sensor I will try to disassemble it to get the plug only. The hardest part is to somehow get harness with 5speed connector. I went to several car scrapyards to dig some cables but since everyone here drives only german cars I assume it is impossible to get it from this source. And here comes my question: Does anyone knows if there is some more popular harness that I can buy to cut this 5speed connector of?

 

I made this short tutorial if someone wants to use reverse light after switching from 6 speed to 5 speed gearbox

You need 5 speed reverse switch plug. It took me some time but it came out that this same plug is used for Hyundai headlamps lol



Then you need plug but for 6 speed. It will fit into your OEM harness. I just cut one from 6 speed sensor.





Then you need to solder this plug to cables connecting it to 5 speed plug. Check what length of cable is needed and put a heat shield on it.



Remember to insulate everything from the moisture



Install it on your car



And now you have a reverse light
