So yesterday I installed a Spoolinup CoP system and then gave the car a wash. I then drove it about 10 miles with the speedometer working fine. Then after I had parked it at a friends house, I started it up again to go out and as I started driving I noticed the needle on the speedometer was not moving at all!
I researched this and saw that this happens when the speed sensor goes out. So I'm wondering, is the speed sensor going out common with this car or did I possibly do something to cause this? Also where is the speed sensor located? Can anyone get a picture of it for me please?
Ok, I wanted to know the exact place. And I found the answer as well as a lot of unanswered threads asking the same exact question. I've been researching for the past 2 hours and here is the answer finally!!!
Start at #6 and go all the way to 10. In picture number 9 that is the harness connecting to the speed sensor. It is almost directly below the throttle body, near the motor mount.
the sensor is very difficult to get to. when i install my clutch and t case. i forgot to plug it in before i put all my piping and what not on.. long story short took me ten minutes of my arm in the engine bay blindly trying to put the plug on the sensor. maybe a wire rub?
Not sure if anyone else is still having the same issue, but I found that there was a micro fracture in the wiring on the pcb for the instrument cluster.
The broken yellow line indicated the terminals that need to be re-wired. This bought my speedo/odo back to life!
