Melting Ignition Coils

Evo VI GSR

Had the ignition coil for cylinder 2 melt the other day. Replaced it yesterday and drove it less than 30kms before it melted another one, cylinder 2 again. I replaced the spark plugs but that was over 1000kms ago, ditto with a clutch replacement. Figured if those were the issue this would have surfaced sooner. Any idea what to check?

Your coils are probably shorted. You will damage more than just the coils unless you find the short. Measure the current draw with a current probe.

This might be a dumb question, but how do I go about testing for that? I've given the harness a good look over and everything looks fine. I have a multimeter but I don't really know how to test with it.
