Clutch & T case question

I've read posts that talk of people blowing T cases after the installation of an aftermarket clutch. What causes this to happen and what can be done to avoid this?

i got about 8k left on my stocker (according to mitsu) and i'm going to upgrade but i'm not willing to have to replace a t case because of upgrading the clutch.

thanks

Basically by taking out the restrictor pill "SS clutch line" and adding a clutch that does not slip as much as the stocker (4 puck, 6 puck, anything that grabs allot more) you are taking a risk of blowing your TC. The reason that mitsu puts all these parts in the driveline (restrictor, Cheap clutch) is to save the driveline (tranny, transfer case, rear dif from getting hurt. Once you take the protection out those parts are now at risk of getting hurt. Really the only clutch you can get that will not be a risk is the ACT or any clutch that keeps the stock design.

This man speaks truth! I just upgraded my clutch to the exedy twin, and sure enough. BLAM. TC is fried. So I sourced one out of Mitsuparts.com --- cheapest new OEM out there. Long story short, I'm keeping the old TC until Shephard Racing gets replacement parts, and can rebuild it. Till then, I'm out about 2100 bucks in all.

Yea, but were you abusing the clutch or were you driving normal with a few spirited runs here and there? Iam sure that could play a HUGE roll in TC longevity with 4 puck, 6 puck, etc
