Do you have any idea how water injection works? And why do you need water injection?

Water injection allows you can run a little bit higher boost (24psi) and bump up the timing and afr a bit too. Basically, the water injection kits allow you're engine to be more knock/denation resistence.

Is it needed? No. Does it help? YES! Can you drive it daily? Yes. The "only" way it would damage an engine would be if you were to run out of water while under boost and the ECU still thinks there's water going in. Fortunately, the WORKS Water Injection kit has measures to prevent this from happening We have engineered a number of failsafes into our design and the result is quite impressive: http://www.worksevo.com/store/produc...products_id=31

Your site is just taking deposits. When will this be available?

Thanks,

Availability will be at least 2 months out. Once WORKS has an initial batch of deposits, we will fill those. The more deposits, the longer it may take to get them all assembled and shipped. We've have a handful of committed customers patiently waiting that will receive their's first.

Not to trash works or AMS or anyone, but unless you absolutely want a complete bolton kit with zero trips to home depot, you can rig up a good water/methanol injection system for not too much hassle.

The great thing about these ready to go kits by AMS and Works is that there's no imagination or guessing involved. I suppose that you could go ahead and buy a turbo, make a tube header and downpipe and get a TIAL wastegate and make your own turbo kit, but it's the engineering behind this stuff that makes it worthwhile.

But if you're an impatient bastard like me, you can make something now.

Problems I see:
Having a big enough reservoir (IC spray tank isn't enough, IMO)
Having a good enough pump (Aquamist pump is fine for water, but if you get into methanol mixing, the seals go bad pretty quickly on higher concentrations)
Having good failsafes (Sounds like AMS and Works are working on making this part perfect, so it's probably worth waiting for if you don't want to DIY)

This is all just my opinion and I'm no expert by any means. Just another internet knowitall typing in his underwear. YMMV

4g63...
twenty-five minutes of hard track time will just about empty the intercooler tank. driving around town the tank will last longer then the gas tank will. so I fill it when I fill the gas tank and after every lapping session.

my problem is my patience in waiting for my hydra ecu so that I can utilize the WI.

The big issue you must face is that the WI will do nothing to improve performance unless you get the ecu modified to take advantage of the water.

What happens when you run with a club that does 30 and 40 and even 50 minute sessions? SOL.

Tuning is an issue, but easily solved. Bigger concern is with long term reliability. I'd like to see what AMS and Works come up with for longevity.

you are right, you would be sol. I have a few grey hairs so after twenty minutes I start looking for the checkered flag.

WI can be a problem, jets can get clogged, water can run out, filters can get scumed up.
so there is maintainance, it is not a set it and forget it mod.

WORKS. I'm a local evo owner. How much do you charge for install on this kit?

I looked into WI pretty hard (alcohol too) then I read about Propane Injection. The best kit out now, http://www.dynamicracing.com/custome...&cat=34&page=1, Is only $569.
The things I like are, Only need to fill the bottle about once a month for about $5 or less, (unlike WI which requires frequent fill-ups).
It's fuel (110 octane), so just lean out your stock 91/93 durning injection, (which is triggered by boost, (or aftermarket ECU, AEM, UTEC, etc...). Like running race gas when you are under boost.
The bottles are already DOT approved and stronger than your stock fuel tank.
It's a straight forward and simple set-up and tune.
It's been used for years in Diesel trucks.

Bad side:
You cannot run VTA BOV with it.
It is flamable, if you get a leak in the lines, (but they are only under pressure if system is triggered, ie under boost, so chances are you'll be going fast and the wind passing thru the car will blow out any leaking gas).
It takes up space in your trunk, (small 5lb bottle)
I plan on buying in next couple months (I'm broke now). I'll post when I have installed.
