how high can you turn up the boost?
If I were to get a boost controller how high can I turn up the boost without damaging the stock turbo or anything else? Is it even possible to boost up on a bone stock Evo? My friend told me I can turn the boost up and get easily 340hp without any damage to the engine or turbo. Should I just slap him?
Yes I will slap his fat ***.
My friend keeps telling me that he used to have a Eclipse and that 4g63 motor is bulletproof.
BTW whats the stock boost and if I were to turn up the boost how much higher can I boost up safely? Sorry for the newb question but whats the difference between PSI and bar?

The stock boost is 19.5psi, I believe. And keep in mind that this is the peak boost. By the time get to the redline, your boost tapers off to about 16psi.
I had my car dynoflashed last weekend (a process where they reflash your ecu and change the tuning a bit). While on the dyno, Al turned the boost up to no more than 20psi. With an intake and 3" turboback exhaust (with stock cat/ fuel pump) I made 290 hp to the wheels. I'm guessing this like 320-340hp to crank (anyone?) While this is pretty good, my fuel pump was pretty much cutting out at that point, so I was running pretty lean. Al recomended that I not run the car at 20psi consistently. So...think about it before turning the boost up. I could probably run 21 psi, but I'm not. At least until I can get a new fuel pump put in the car.

as stated... boost taper is a huge problem for the evo... this was done to give a huge safety margin considering the cali **** gas.....
now just preventing the boost taper really means you keep 19 psi all the way, which is like 2 or 3 psi at the top end!!!!
if you want to go beyond 19 psi, i would recommend fuel pump, ecu flash or piggyback
