Tial BOV experiances...
The EMS is awesome. A bit pricey but nothing comes close. I haven't even begun to tap into what it can do, but its nice to know its there. If you have any tuning knack at all you'll love it. And if you're like me and don't have much then your shop will love it.

Update!
Shimming don't work worth a crap. The spring is totally compressed when the valve opens up, that means that any shimming you do reduces the amount a travel of the popet valve.

what's MAS?
i have some exhaust work done and a local person is selling a new Tial BOV... wanted to know how good this bov was, and any specific quirks there were to this thing...
swapping springs and all seem awfully high maintenance for something that seems kind of trivial... sigh...

Does anyone have a soundclip of a tial on the evo? I REALLY want to hear one. Yeah, i know im kind of selfish but i've looked everywhere and no one has a clip! BOO!
I decided compressor surge was not trivial. I guess there are different opinions out there. I'm running a little harder than stock so I'm trying to keep things as safe and happy as possible.
i'm talking about my situation as being trivial. i realize the more mods you have then of course it needs to be addressed; right now, there's a local that's selling one for a pretty good price and id' like to buy it but since it's not exactly necessary at this point in my modification timeline, i'd like to have a bov that was pretty much a bolt in affair, without thoughts of springs or anything.
so what's MAS? and what factors do i need to consider when determining which proper bov to get?

If you're not running a standalone EMS or many other mods, you may not need it just yet. I did a lot of thread searches on VTA vs Recirc bovs and found a ton of good info. As VTAs go this thing has a good rep. Unless its a steal the money might be better spent somewhere else. Good luck.

Urgent!
Urgent update!
Did some high boost testing today and found that with a fast spooling turbo, the pressure builds up in the upper IC pipe faster than in the intake manifold and you end up with enough pressure differential to open the BOV with the 7lb spring when you start hitting boost higher than around 22 psi.
If you never plan to go above 22 psi then great! Use the lightest spring. I will have to use either the 9 lb spring or the stock 11 lb spring in my setup.

I am retarded!
I am setting up the boost control in the AEM EMS and have it currently set to go to 12 psi if I overshoot 20 psi by too much... so of course when I hit 22 psi the boost solenoid dumped boost and therfor my BOV opened up.
Damn do I feel dumb now!
I figured it out after I switched back to the stock spring and it did the same thing. Swapping springs is such a pain in the butt that I fell having to swap to the stocker and now having to swap back to the 7 lb spring is punishment enough for the mistake.
Oh well, we all have our brain dead moments I guess.
