exedy twin disk life...

Ok guys...Bad news for alot of use with exedy twin disk... The pads on these disks are really thin. They are about 1 1/2 penny thick. Maybe a bit thicker, but not by much. I found out that they are meant for racing only, and wont last long if daily driven. They are expected to last about 5-30K miles, depends on your driving style. With this said, anybody with the exedy twin go beyond the 30K? Or have any first hand experience with these disks?

The crappy part is this: the pads are 200 each! That means 400 to replace both + labor....Ewwwwwwwww..... But the twin disks are for ppl with 500bhp and it doesnt look like we have much choice here. Any other twin disks good for daily driving? Damn....getting real expensive real quick to modify these cars. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..... I guess I have to suck it up and drive on...

Hmm thats odd, because I replaced my clutch around 3500 miles with an Exedy twin disk set up and I am currently at 18000 miles. Thats 14500 miles on it with the car going to the 1/4 trips several times and road racing events. By any chance did you check your pedal adjustment when it was first installed to make sure it was the right clearence? I've seen several of them go out because of it. Hope this helps and good luck.

I have the clutch, but it's not in the car yet. I'm just concern about it's longevity for daily driving. I heard from a tech that the twin disks wont last long.

Yea, I have created one and my buddy created 2 at the same time. Well, the thing is that there is no thread addressing this issue yet. From what I know, at 400whp+, it's going to be hard to keep up with maintenance. The exedy twin disk wont last more than 20-30K from daily driving is what I heard. Oh well, I'm goign togive it a try to see it for myself. It doesnt look like i have a choice now since my clutch is slipping really bad.

This is good advice (I wish someone told me this ealier). I got my ACT clutch worn out after only 5000 miles because the damm dealer that did the clutch didn't adjust my pedal correctly and stupid me that kept thinking it was still breaking-in. Take this advice.
