Question about Exedy Triple disk.

I plan on switching from my ACT 6 Puck unsprug / ACT flywheel / ACT pressure plate to an Exedy Triple disk, the SR not the HR.. I believe the SR is the street one and the HR is more for hard core racing applications, correct me if I'm wrong. Im switching to a triple disk rather than a twin disk, because I do not want to ever have to upgrade my clutch again, so I'm doing it big now. I've also searched through a few threads and only found 1 useful thread to my questions, and it did not answer them completely, which is why I posted a thread.

Anyway I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this clutch daily driving, possibly in comparison to other triple disks, and in comparison to the Exedy Twin disk HD.

Also I read about the Exedy triples, destroy peoples transmissions and breaking axles? Is this true? Why does it cause more damage than any other clutch if it is true? Im currently still on stock 6speed but if it breaks it breaks

Thanks

I have the exedy triple in my car. I have yet to have any issues with breaking anything on the car 60+ launches. During launches I am able to feather the clutch pretty well. I was thinking about going with the QM twin next time around instead of rebuilding the triple I have.

I don't mind it at all, however, it makes some noise. As far as traffic driving no issues here. I would rather drive this clutch in traffic than an ACT. The reason I'm considering it is because I need a rebuild and would like to convert to a push style clutch. So it would be quite a bit cheaper to just purchase a brand new QM push type than rebuilding the clutch and upgrading it. I've had the clutch installed for approximately 2000 miles and it has been abused quite a bit. I am now getting some lock out problems and putting the car into gear is a challenge at times. I would love to buy a Tilton but I don't have the money for that atm.

What are the pros in going to a push type setup then a pull style like the Exedy?

Hm so these high performance clutches go bad quickly after quite a bit of abuse? I don't track my car often.. maybe once or twice a month at most once its running good.. What would you suggest for daily driving and some track abuse? Do you think I should just stick with Exedy Triple? I can get one for about 2050 so im able to get a really good deal on it. but if its going to go bad fast, like I said, I dont want to have to upgrade later on

Every driver is different. So the clutch may only last me 2000miles but may last you quite a bit longer. I know for me and my setup a Qm twin is a better option. The Qm twin will allow quicker shifts and hold the power I will be making. As far as how long it will last only time will tell. However, a rebuild on a Qm twin is quite a bit cheaper than a triple.

Whats the power difference between a QM Twin and a Exedy Triple as far as how much TQ and HP it will hold?

My personal opinion on my Exedy Tripple. Love it! I have put 11,000 miles on mine this summer daily driving it. 50+ runs at the track and numerous highway pulls. I couldn't be more happier with a clutch.

Have you used the QM before? Which Triple do you have, carbon or ceramic? I've had several clutches ACT 2600, 2900 and 3200, Clutch masters (hated it), Exedy twin (4k miles, then lock out issues), Exedy Triple (2k miles, lock out issues). And of all the ones I have tried I liked the Exedy Triple the most. However, 2k plus for the clutch that's a dollar a mile!

From what I've seen and now that I had the pleasure of riding in a car that has a QM twin and witnessed it's shifting potential I'm sold. Most posts regarding the clutch are all positive minus a few complaining about noise and vibration (doesn't bother me in the slightest) plus the cost of rebuilds is cheaper.

Almost 4 years with the triple and the car is used every day for both transportation and street racing. I wouldn't change it for nothing...

Thanks everyone! What is the cost to rebuild an Exedy Triple? Also what kind of power does the QM Twin hold?

SPIN2GST : Which exedy triple do you have? Carbon or ceramic? HR or SR if ceramic
