Tale of 2 dyno's
Tale of 2 dyno's
I've done all of the tuning that I can to my EVO. The HKS 3240 fit maxes out at 29psi at altitude (6000 ft absl). At sea level this turbo is good for 35 psi. Up here it starts to move out of its efficiency range after 29 psi. Also, large turbos take much longer to spool at altitude. I wanted to try two different types of dynos to see how they compared. This run was done on a AWD dynojet. This is wheel HP.
The last race of the season is in Pueblo on Oct 31st. I'm going to run there and then move on to a fairly radical project. We're going to use a GT42 or T51r turbo with a Kleemann supercharger that is capable of making 17 psi of boost. This type of hybrid system has been done before so we figured that we'd give it a try. Any turbo larger than an HKS3240 or GT35 takes so long to spool at altitude that you need to do something to help make some low end power. Instead of N2O we're going to go with a supercharger. Kleemann makes one of the most effecient super chargers in the world. This is a 4 month project, I'll keep you posted on the results.
BTW, my best 1/4 time this year at Bandimere (5800 ft absl) was about an 11.3 @ 127mph.
