intercooler pipes (fluid dynamics) any engineers?
Yeah mang a 90 degree is bad especially after the intercooler is not good. What you are doing is creating loads of turbulant air which might actually even push air back. This being said you might have issues w/ other things like vibration and flow issues. I'm learning about AC duct and man the fluid design eally comes in handy.

i would take the link ryanM posted. he is right, there is some very useful information on that thread, that is 100% directly related to this topic. i listed some solid numbers on page 3 you could find useful if you don't care to read it all.
but basically it means that your bend is much to tight, and you are hurting your car more then benefiting it. that has got to be one of the most restrictive bends i have ever seen. but it is really well made
now just make a new one and your golden!
oh and a90 degree silicon elbow isn't going to help at all. it will just change the material of the bend. also, any welds and joints are also going to restrict airflow. again, all of this is listed with numbers on the other thread.

a good way to think of it is like this: your at a water park, and you have just climbed the biggest water slide ever. your going down faster then you have ever gone before, are you going to want to hit a 90degree elbow going that fast? how about going over a welded joint? your going to want the inside of your pipes to be as smooth as humanly possible, with out any tight elbows and joints. the smoother it is the faster you will go down the water slide.
I have a M.S. in chemical engineering, get rid of the 90. You have a velocity going one direction, then wanting to make a hard left. So you end up with Turbulence in that area. Basically the flow of air sucks, will be worse than stock. Think Manderal bends.

i was under the impression a silicon 90 degree elbow was an elbow that was 90 degrees. an elbow generally will have no radius of curvature, and therfor will remain the same as the bend he has in there now. now if a silicon 90 degree elbow is actually more of a 90 degree gradual curve, which it probably is, otherwise you wouldn't have brought it up, then yes it will most likely help.
THANKS for the input guys
I will go back to the drawing board and lopp off the hard 90 and basically incorporate a longer flowing silicone 90 that would mimick a mandrel bend.
Thanks guys!
