Why not go with Dynoflash or XFlash... at the 200-300 Dollar Price point. Or 400-500 for a dynotuned version. You can purchase a SAFC for 300 should you decide to utilize race gas.

Or go with the AEM at 1450. It's 450 more than the UTEC or EXEDE, but worth the extra dough if you decide to do more extensive modifications down the road.

I don't see the sense in spending in the middle range. (EXEDE or UTEC)

Both Utec and Xede look good. What I like most about the Utec is its 5 banks for map storage, Xede right now is too. The only question is how the support is going to be TurboXS. From what I heard from WRX guys, it is that great. So its a toss up.

Dynoflash and Xflash are permanent setting so you cannot change your car up and tune it only way is another flash or adding on s-afc or something like that. if you live near Al it would be nice

I like the Utec. its not bad for the money but Im going with the profec e-01/emanage for a great combo. But if I had the money it would def go tot he AEM. Very very nice and the adjustment range is only limited by your cars ability.

Who is using UTEC on their evo? Anyone? The Xede can run a countless number of maps if you have a laptop (or a long serial cable from your desktop). But when no laptop is wanted or needed you just have to switch back and forth to the two of your choice. I have my daily driver 91 octane map and a more aggressive 98 octane map for having extra fun....

You should have said something like... Shiv, Shiv, he's our man, if he can't do it, no one can. Fanboy. Who the hell wants to carry their laptop around everywhere? NOT ME. Maybe a little to much like Brian from TF&TF. Your point was meaningless. The UTEC has 5 maps, the XEDE has 2.

Some of us have avoided becoming fanboys. The XEDE is not the end all of engine managment!

That sounded a little anti-Vishnu, which I'm not. I'm actually looking forward to the XFlashTuner. But I don't like the "XEDE is the best" attitude.

FWIW, i don't think anyone will argue that any one engine control system is the best solution for everyone. Each system takes a different approach to providing an engine control solution.

As for the XEDE, like the UTEC, it's not a static product. It is always being developed and expanded to tackle new functions and offer new features. It's one of the reasons this part of the market is so interesting.

Cheers,
shiv
