Boost levels on MR

Well, my car (05 MR) has over 2,000 miles on it and I am starting to get on it. I have noticed that 1-5 gear, boost shoots to 1.3-1.4 bar and then drops like a rock. The only gear that hold boost steady at 1.3-1.4 bar is 6th, and it pulls like a raped ape!! I was at a shop that dyno'ed an MR and the boost was fluctuating. The tuner said a JDM MR BOV would control the boost better. If that is true, why is 6th gear holding boost so steadily?

Is this a problem with the 03 and 04's? My best guess is a boost controller would solve the problem. Any thoughts?

Get a manual boost controller. It's cheap and very effective at holding boost solid right to redline.

Check and tighten all your intercooler piping and the clamps around the BOV. Mine were loose right from the dealership. This should be done and it's free. Just takes time to reach all of them.
