Question EFI PMS display?

Dating myself I'm sure, but on my DSM I ran the EFI PMS piggyback/standalone system (could function as either, used to be at www.efisystems.com but it looks like Doug is out of the DSM business) that had this handy in-car keypad display. It showed the program #, O2 reading, MAF, RPM, boost, load, etc. All the parameters could also be updated through the pad.

Do any of the EVO piggybacks or standalones have an in-car display or keypad/display? Even a palm interface would be nice...mount the palm somewhere and read it like a gauge pack.

yeah...I belive the only system like that is the Apexi Power FC standalone.

The EMS needs a laptop to tune and download logs, but it logs internally and doens't need a laptop to run.

Bummer, it doesn't look like, judging from the lack of posts in that forum, that a lot of people are using the PowerFC on the EVO. I think I'm done with the pioneering thing, tried-and-true is so much easier.
I was kind of hoping the AEM, XEDE, or UTEC had some Palm software that could work as an in car gauge pack.

I don't know if it's what you are looking for, but the ecu+ has software for the palm (www.ecuplus.com). There is also some software for the innovate wb (www.innovatemotorsports.com) that you might like, but it's strictly datalogging. You'd have to use something else for tuning.

You could try this www.gauge-tech.com for the AEM for $400. I ended up building an in car computer that sits under the seat and uses a 7" touch panel screen. Total build cost for the computer is about $1500.

Thanks, looks interesting. I wonder how many people are running the ECU+ on this board. Anyone?

Now that looks really close to what the PMS had. After seeing some posts on here about OBDII being used in state inspections, I see that it's been added to the PA code: http://www.pacode.com/secure/data/06...hap177toc.html

OBD I/M Check is the procedure where they connect an analyzer to the OBDII port on 2001 or newer vehicles and look for error conditions.

As others have mentioned in other posts this would pose a problem for the AEM since it doesn't interface with the OBDII port. The OEM ECU could be replaced for inspection, but it would have to run well enough to pass the sniffer in PA. ...and that would be a pain.

New AEM 3rd party add-on: OBDII port simulator Anyone?

It is a plug and play standalone, so you could keep your stock ecu and install it when you need to do an obd2 scan.
